Radiographers’ perception on task shifting to nurses and assistant nurses within the radiography profession

IntroductionThe radiography profession is challenged by greater responsibilities and shortage of educated radiographers. Implementation task shifting one strategy to deal with the current situation in health care. The aim this studiy was evaluate radiographers’ perception assistant nurses carrying out tasks that traditionally were undertaken within a Swedish context.MethodsAn electronic questionnaire distributed radiographers at eleven hospitals Sweden. included background questions about nurses. respondents rated their agreement level regarding on five-point Likert scale. Data statistically evaluated SPSS using Mann Whitney U test.ResultsSixty-five participated study. Most responded negatively (72%) or (65%). disagree should perform mammography screening work interventional radiography, while attitude towards calculating glomerular filtration rate more positive. A majority performing conventional radiographs, informing patient contrast media administration inserting peripheral intravenous catheters, there positive preparing patients for examinations. not influenced age, however less working experience general.ConclusionA had negative hand over related care administrative than technical profession.Implications practiceKnowledge essential when planning implementing strategies clinical settings.
